How To Do a Back Somersault.
How To Do A Back Somersault: 1
Before you start, make sure you can do a Tuck Jump, Front Drop, Back Drop on the trampoline.

This is all about the BACK DROP, and getting your HIPS up. The rest is easy..

Back Drop - getting your hips up.
First, perform you BACK DROP, high on to a mat or mattress. Get you hips up and push Forward, so you land your back in front of where you feet where when you took off.

Next, take the mat off, and try a back drop, TUCKING HARD and pushing off the trampoline bed with your arms so you flip over and land on you hand and knees and practicing til you can do a back drop roll-over to feet

Next, you need a friend. Preferably an adult, or someone who can take your weight.
You partner is going to stand behind you, legs apart.
YOU must be on the very centre of the trampoline bed.
You partner keep their legs much wider apart than you and you learn how to jump together in a rhythm. Your partner jumps very lightly.

With your partner behind you, jump together 3 times and perform a Tuck Jump, lifting your hips so they are as high as your partner's shoulder.

The whole idea of the tuck jump to your partner's shoulder is that YOU lift your hips up to land on their shoulder. The partner does not lift you, or help you, they just catch you, or if they can not catch you, they hold you a little and ensure you don;t go over your head.

Next, your partner comes to your SIDE.
Jump together and perform the Tuck jump (make sure your partner jumps with their kegs wide apart)
You do not need BIG jumps for this.
Just 3 jumps and TUCK
Next you are to Jump 3 time, lift those hips and tuck hard and fast.
You will automatically back somersault if you lift the hips and tuck.
Your partner is there just to ensure you do not 'chicken out'. If you do and it looks like you are going to land on your head, they can push you over to land on your knees.

If you feel ready, remove your partner, take 3 jumps, TUCK JUMP, Then land, then jump LIFT THOSE HIPS, TUCK FAST and your WILL land the back somersault.

Before you learn, you need to be able to do front drops, back drops and tuck jumps - PERFECTLY.

Hands and Knees
Learn to jump on your hands and knees

Tuck hard, and roll to your back
From the hands and knees position - TUCK, and roll on to your back

The aim, is to land on exactly the same spot as you took off. Your back, will land at the same spot as your knees

Now try to tuck so hard and fast that you almost land on your feet - BUT without traveling across the trampoline bed. Your feet and bottom land in the same spot as you knees where when they took off.
If you do not travel, you can move on to the next step...

From standing, (no bounce needed), list UP, TUCK and roll over to your bed, WITHOUT traveling across the bed. You back should now land where your feet where.

Now practice your TUCK Jump.
Imagine you are in a chimney... jumping up the chimney, you are going to TUCK at the very top of the jump, and then come back down the chimney.
The somersault is the same action. Jump UP the chimney, somerault at the top of the jump, and come back down that chimney.

Jump 3 times with your arms above your head, TUCK and ROLL over on to you back.
